DOJ announced a Detroit-area physical therapist’s guilty plea to $1.6 in sham Medicare billings on August 26. The therapist, Jay Jha, admitted that he helped fabricate patient files to assist an unnamed co-conspirator in billing Medicare for services which were never performed. Medicare beneficiaries were paid kickbacks and other inducements in exchange for their signatures and Medicare ID numbers.
DOJ Criminal Fraud Section attorneys John Neal and Benjamin Singer, along with ED Mich SAUSA Thomas Beimers are handling the case.
