OIG-HHS issues two advisory opinions on ambulance/municipal arrangements

In two similar advisory opinions, the OIG-HHS approved of ambulance companies with exclusive contracts to pay an annual fee to a township and a city.

The OIG-HHS warned that the payments could, under other circumstances, be considered prohibited remuneration under the Anti-Kickback Statute, but that safeguards present in the two proposed deals alleviated those concerns.
