Florida’s Attorney General announced that Roxanne Laboratories has agreed to pay $8.5 million to the State of Florida to resolve a Leon County Medicaid fraud lawsuit brought under the Florida False Claims Act. The settlement will resolve allegations that Roxanne Laboratories and its corporate affiliates reported false and inflated prices for medications which were reimbursed by the Florida Medicaid program. The Complex Civil Enforcement Bureau of the Florida Attorney General’s Office handled the investigation and is continuing to pursue two other pharmaceutical companies in Leon County for price reporting fraud.
The money received from the settlement will be partitioned between the Agency for Health Care Administration, which is responsible for the Medicaid Program, the State of Florida’s General Revenue Fund, and rewards for persons who report Medicaid fraud.
